1). After a long and checkered career as a academic, i ended up working as a high school teacher. The experience did not end well. In fact i did such a bad job that when people even mention my days teaching or their own experiences in the profession i suffer from nights of insominia. Fortunately, drawing/booze/partying with mates seems to snap me back into shape pretty smartly.
2). Although I'm originally from Auckland in New Zealand, I was fortunate enough to spend six years of my life growing up in Papua New Guinea. Not many western kids get to grow up driving around in speed boats to go to BBQ's on remote islands or go play in the Jungle behind their house.
3). I'm 30, and while i'm not over the hill yet, i can see the crest of the hill from where I'm standing.
4). When I was 18 crashed a mophed (scooter) and had to have a knee reconstruction... However, i tell my work mates (on the construction sites) that i crashed a motorbike, because crashing a mophed seems a little sissy.
5). I started drawing about 2 years ago. Before then i had never had any interest in art. I took it up because i got given a art class to teach and i felt like a shmuck teaching a class knowing nothing about the subject. After that i was hooked.
6). I live in a flat in Melbourne Australia with my older brother who is both my best friend and my nemesis! He drives me absolutely spare with a thousand little annoying habits but i love him almost like a brother..... so i geuss he can stay.
7). I'm working towards starting my own comic publishing company.... Which i know is an ambitious dream, but i figure there is little value in setting small goals. In the short term i'm just hoping to get my art to the level where is could get some form of job connected to it.
8). I hate all western soups, yet i have an unhealthy addiction to any form of delicious asian noodle soup.
9). As a kid i was in deep smit with comics. I loved em. My favourites were: spiderman, the incredible hulk, and the amazing X-men (later i would find out that the amazing Stan Lee wrote all this series). I dug all these character because they all had their own problems to deal with as people and while the were heroes they were not seen as such by society. Then during my senior years at high school I lost interest in comics and became obessessed with women... Which in hindsight, never really paid off. After i took up art recently, i figured looking at comics would be a good way to learn how to draw them better. So i't only recently i've come back to reading comics again. While i still have a soft spot for the characters i used to read about, I mainly read owner published content of the net (Atland
www.realmofatland.com , Vigil
crankyoctopus.com/vigil , Fey Winds
www.feywinds.com/ , Looking for Group
www.lfgcomic.com/ , Shadow Girls
www.shadowgirlscomic.com/ , The Zombie Hunters
www.thezombiehunters.com/ , Flaky Pastry
flakypastry.runningwithpencils… , & The Path
www.wevolt.com/The_Path/ ) now and a few selected titles that are out of the printed for the mainstream (Empowered, Atomic Robo, American Vampire, Powers, & Wolfman).
10). Finally my terible secret, brace yourself dear readers! I, Bonezy T Bone-ing-ton the 3rd, used to play Dungeon and Dragons. Deep was my addiction to this most viraluent of pastimes. I was happy to forgo going out and grabbing drinks with people. Ladies waiting to meet me?... Well they can be buggered, because my 18th level Theif is trapped in a dungeon supended above a cauldron of boiling acid! Anyway, after years rehabilitation i am now able to live a relatively normal life filled with walks in sun filled parks, bracing bike rides, and alcohol fuelled bouts of socialisation at pubs across melbourne. However, despite all this work at the the very bottom of my cupboard there rest of small velvet bag tied up with string. Stored within, rest the last remaining paraphanaelia of my former lifetstyle choice.............. Sometimes when everyone is a asleep, i get them out and try to roll for double damage.
